Dr Carrell was born and raised in Southern Alberta. He completed his undergrad, medical school and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Alberta. Dr Carrell also completed an extra year of training and Post Graduate Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery at Ulster University in Ireland. He is a member of multiple Ophthalmology societies including Canadian Ophthalmology Society (COS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS).

Dr Carrell has special interests in refractive laser vision correction, refractive lens exchange and refractive cataract surgery. Dr Carrell is also a comprehensive Ophthalmologist with a clinical and surgical practice covering Glaucoma, Retina, Uveitis, Oculoplastics, Neuro-Ophthalmology and Pediatric Ophthalmology. Our office also covers on call emergencies and trauma for all of Southern Alberta.

On top of his daily patient care, he enjoys teaching and hosting medical students and residents from the University of Alberta and University of Calgary regularly within the clinic.

Outside of work Dr Carrell loves to spend time with his family and friends and enjoys music, golf, football, basketball, snowboarding, and surfing. He is excited to be working in Lethbridge and hopes to shape Southern Alberta into a place of surgical excellence and innovation.
